Before recruiting your apprentice, you must choose a training provider and commit to supporting your apprentice through their training.


Once that’s confirmed, they’ll start working for you and typically spend a day a week studying from home or college.

Businesses with a wage bill of more than £3m a year must pay the apprenticeship levy, while any employees whose wage bill falls below this don’t. If your business doesn’t pay the levy, it will make a 5% contribution to the cost of your apprentice’s training, in addition to paying their wage.
